Terms of use

The simple rules.

Last updated 28 October 2026

The short version
  • Your photos stay yours.
  • Only add photos you took or are allowed to share, and be kind to the people in them.
  • Collect is in beta, so things can change or break. Keep your originals on your phone.

About these terms

These terms apply to the Collect app and collect.fm (“Collect”), made by Next Empire BV in the Netherlands. By using Collect you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

Your account

You need to be at least 13 to use Collect. Keep your account to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using it.

Your photos

You keep all rights to the photos you add. To make Collect work, you allow us to store them, make copies at smaller sizes, and show them to the people in the album you added them to. This permission ends when the photos are deleted.

When you add photos to an album, the people in that album can see them and save copies to their own devices. Deleting a photo removes it from Collect, but not from devices where someone already saved it.

Be decent

Don’t add anything illegal, anything you don’t have the right to share, or anything meant to harass, threaten or embarrass someone. Respect the people in your photos: if someone asks you to remove a photo of them, please do. You can report a photo in the app, and we may remove photos, albums or accounts that break these rules.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content, such as nudity or sexual content, hate, violence or harassment, and for people who abuse others. We review every report within 24 hours and remove the content, and if needed the account. You can also hide all photos from someone, for yourself, at any time.

Invite links

Anyone with an album’s invite link can join it. Share it with the people who were there. If a link ends up in the wrong place, the organiser can reset it, which stops the old link from working.

The beta

Collect is free during the beta. We’re still building it, so features can change and things can go wrong. Collect is not a backup service: keep your original photos on your phone or in your own backup. We may introduce paid features later, and we’ll tell you before anything you use starts to cost money.

Liability

We do our best to keep Collect running and your photos safe, but we provide it “as is”. As far as the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect damage or for losing photos you added to Collect. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law.

Stopping

You can stop using Collect and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we ever shut Collect down, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice to save your albums.

The law

Dutch law applies to these terms. If we can’t solve a disagreement together, it goes to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless consumer law gives you the right to go to a court where you live.
